Variety is reporting that Rowan Blanchard and Auli’i Cravalho have signed up to star in an untitled coming-of-age drama at Hulu.
The film focuses on an aspiring artist, Paige, who is thrust out of her comfort zone when forced to join the High School track team, using it as an opportunity to pursue the girl, AJ, she’s been harbouring a long-time crush on. Later though, she finds herself falling for an unexpected teammate, only then discovering what real love feels like.
Rowan Blanchard (whose credits include Snowpiercer and The Goldbergs) will be playing the role of Paige, while Auli’i Cravalho (whose credits include Moana and All Together Now) will be playing the role of AJ, an elusive track star who has always lived in the shadow of her twin sister.
The film is written by Kristen King and Casey Rackham, with Sammi Cohen attached to direct, as well as being produced by Animal Pictures’ Natasha Lyonne, Maya Rudolph and Danielle Renfrew Behrens, alongside American High’s Jeremy Garelick, Will Phelps, Ryan Bennett, Depth of Field’s Andrew Miano, 3Arts’ Katie Newman, and LD Entertainment’s Mickey Liddell and Pete Shilaimon. Depth of Field’s Britta Rowings and Dan Balgoyen will be executive producing alongside LD Entertainment’s Michael Glassman and Max Butler.
