The 2018 film revealed the origin story of half-human, half-Atlantean Arthur Curry and took him on the journey of his lifetime–one that would not only force him to face who he really is, but to discover if he was worthy of who he was born to be… a king. The overall plot for the sequel is still being kept under wraps.

Jani Zhao (whose credits include The Sugar Captains and South) will be playing the role of Stingray, an original character created for the film. Indya Moore (whose credits include Pose and Escape Room: Tournament of Champions) will be playing the role of Karshon, originally a Green Lantern villain (first appearing in DC Comics in 1963) that is a shark that, after being hit with radiation, gained intelligence and telepathic powers. Vincent Regan (whose credits include Flesh and Blood and Before We Die) will be playing the role of Atlan, the ancient ruler of Atlantis who caused the city to sink into the sea.

.

The report also states that Randall Park will be reprising the role of Dr. Stephen Shin, a marine biologist who is obsessed with finding the location of Atlantis. The sequel is written by David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick, and James Wan directing.
