Deadline is exclusively reporting that Universal have acquired George Nolfi’s original pitch, a fact-based drama about the Afghanistan evacuation, with Channing Tatum and Tom Hardy attached to star.
The film is based on the recently reported true story of three former special forces team members who jump back into the fray alongside their Afghan counterparts to rescue families and allies left behind amid the rapid fall of Afghanistan.
There is currently no director attached to the project. Nolfi’s screenwriting credits include The Adjustment Bureau, Spectral, and The Banker, which he also directed. Tatum and Hardy will produce on the project alongside Jules Day, as well as Reid Carolin and Peter Kiernan of Free Association. Nolfi will serve as executive producer.
Senior Vice President of Production, Ryan Jones, will oversee the project on behalf of Universal.
