Deadline is exclusively reporting that Starz have given a six-episode order for the revival of the cult comedy series Party Down.

.

The series, which aired between 2009-2010, followed a Los Angeles catering team, a group of Hollywood wannabes stuck working for tips while hoping for their ‘big break’, with each episode finding the hapless team working a new event and getting tangled up with the colourful guests and their absurd lives.

.

Jeffrey Hirsch, President and CEO at Starz, released a statement saying:

After more than 10 years, we’re excited to have the cast — many of whom are now hugely popular, award-winning stars — return to don their pink bow ties and head back to the party. The fan demand for a Party Down revival is clear, and we look forward to what Rob, Paul, John, Dan and now Adam will do as they bring this special project and these hilarious characters back to life.

.

The revival will see original stars Adam Scott, Jane Lynch, Ken Marino, Martin Starr, Ryan Hansen and Megan Mullally reprising their roles after signing deals to return, though original cast member Lizzy Caplan won’t be returning due to scheduling conflicts and commitments to the upcoming FX limited series Fleishman Is In Trouble.

.

The revival series is being executive produced by original series’ creators and executive producers Rob Thomas, John Enbom, Paul Rudd, Dan Etheridge, as well as Adam Scott. Enbom will also serve as showrunner. It’s believed that production will commence in January 2022. Starz’s EVP Original Programming, Karen Bailey, will oversee the project.
