Deadline is exclusively reporting that Breaking Glass Pictures have acquired the U.S rights for the family drama Jump, Darling.

Jump, Darling is written and directed by Phil Connell, with the story focusing on Russell, who escapes to the country after his recent breakup with his strait-laced businessman boyfriend, who doesn’t approve of him becoming a drag queen. Rather than become the convenient crash pad he had in mind, he learns that his grandmother, Margaret, is becoming more forgetful than she’d like to admit, but is desperate to avoid being put in the local nursing home.

Scott Motisko, VP of Acquisitions, Business Development & Sales at Breaking Glass Pictures, released a statement saying:

Cloris Leachman delivers a powerful final performance, and newcomer Thomas Duplessie dazzles as her grandson struggling to find his place in the world. Breaking Glass is honoured to count Jump, Darling as part of its extensive and diverse LGBTQ lineup.

Jump, Darling had been around the film festival circuit last year, premiering at Toronto Inside Out Film Festival, and playing at BFI Flare (review here). The film stars Thomas Duplessie, Cloris Leachman, Linda Kash, Andrew Bushell, Jayne Eastwood, Daniel Jun, Penelope Goranson, Mark Caven, Katie Messina and Kevin Allan.
