We’re only a few weeks into the New Year and already a few milestones have been hit here at Irish Cinephile. One being that it was my birthday last week, hitting half a decade in my thirties, a terrifying number in that life is really flying by now. What also happened during the weekend was that the site had reached an incredible milestone of 500,000 views.
.
I never would’ve thought that creating this website to post my reviews on films would’ve lasted beyond twelves months, let alone be on course of nearly being around for a decade and hitting half-a-million views. That is just astounding to me. Since the sites creation, I’ve done over a thousand reviews, and in the last few years due to the pandemic, I’ve been lucky enough to attend the following film festivals online: BFI London Film Festival, BFI Flare, International Film Festival Rotterdam, Dublin International Film Festival, Glasgow Film Festival, Edinburgh International Film Festival and Raindance Film Festival.
.
It’s no secret I’m more comfortable with the online print format, primarily because I lack fondness for hearing the sound of my own voice, hence the hesitation to expand Irish Cinephile into the realm of audio format, but maybe it’s high time to step out of my comfort zone for that.
.
Finally, to everyone that regularly steps onto the site and reads the reviews and articles, to those that stop in every once in a blue moon, to those that stopped by once….thank you for taking the time to do so, you’ve made this guy very happy.
.
Here’s to the next 500K.
