Deadline is exclusively reporting that Natalie Eva Marie, Randy Couture, Neal McDonough, Oleg Prudius, Bai Lin, and Rashad Evans are set to star in action-thriller Phoenix.
The film focuses on Fiona ‘Phoenix’ Grant, a U.S. Army veteran Sergeant who is teaching hand-to-hand combat skills in Afghanistan when she receives word that her father, Everett Grant, a prominent security specialist, has been killed in Florida. The police report says it was suicide, but Fiona doesn’t believe it. Encouraged to take a leave of absence by her commanding officer, she heads back to the U.S. and soon learns that the prime suspect is Maxim Vasiliiev, a ruthless local drug kingpin with an army of mercenaries and enough legal, political and business influence to keep him outside of the law. Armed to the teeth, she plans to take out Vasiliiev with her bare hands, and nothing is going to stop her.
Natalie Eva Marie (whose credits include Inconceivable and Hard Kill) will be playing the role of Fiona ‘Phoenix’ Grant, Randy Couture (whose credits include The Outlaw Johnny Black and Alpha Code) will be playing the role of Everett Grant, Neal McDonough (whose credits include Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City and Red Stone) will be playing the role of Grant’s commanding officer, and Oleg Prudius (whose credits include Miami Heat and Paper Empire) will be playing the role of Maxim Vasiliiev.
The roles for Bai Lin and Rashad Evans weren’t disclosed in the report. The film, which has commenced production in Miami, hails from Tadross Media Group and Bulldog Brothers Entertainment, and is being directed by Daniel Zirilli, adapting from a story he co-wrote with Alexander Nistratov. Michael Tadross Jr., Bernard Salzmann and Alexander Nistratov sere as producers on the project.
