The Black Demon: Fernanda Urrejola And Julio Cesar Cedillo Join Cast For Survival Thriller

Variety is exclusively reporting that Fernanda Urrejola and Julio Cesar Cedillo are some of the latest names added to star opposite Josh Lucas in Adrian Grünberg’s upcoming survival thriller The Black Demon.


The film focuses on an oilman who finds himself and his family stranded on a rig where he is targeted by a megalodon, a prehistoric shark.


The report also states that Jorge A. Jimenez, Héctor Jiménez, Raúl Méndez, Edgar Flores, Venus Ariel and Carlos Solórzano are also joining the cast.

Adrian Grünberg released a statement:

Talented, committed, and with an open heart and soul — that is what all directors search for in a cast. And every one of these actors bring the building blocks of the cultural mosaic that makes up ‘The Black Demon.’ I am thrilled, humbled, and lucky to have them take my image to the next level.


Highland Film Group’s CEO Arianne Fraser also released a statement adding:

The Black Demon is a captivating survival thriller with a fantastic ensemble cast, spearheaded by the action master Adrian.

The film is developed by Mucho Mas Media and Silk Mass, with Highland Film Group (HFG) co-financing the film alongside Blue Rider Pictures. HFG’s domestic distribution arm, The Avenue, hold the U.S distribution rights and are setting the film for 2023 release.


The film is produced by Javier Chapa (Mucho Mas Media), Jon Silk (Silk Mass) and Petr Jákl (R.U. Robot), and is executive produced by Phillip Braun (Mucho Mas Media), Simon Wise, Bruce Barshop, Vincent Cordero, Joe Di Maio, Adrian Grünberg, Arianne Fraser and Delphine Perrier (Highland Film Group), JJ Caruth (The Avenue), Martin J. Barab (R.U. Robot) and Walter Josten and Patrick Josten (Blue Rider Pictures).


The Black Demon is written by Boise Esquerra and the film will wrap principal photography at the end of January on location in the Dominican Republic.
