Netflix have released the official trailer for the upcoming slasher film Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
.
The official synopsis for the film is as follows:
Melody, her teenage sister Lila, and their friends Dante and Ruth, head to the remote town of Harlow, Texas to start an idealistic new business venture. But their dream soon turns into a waking nightmare when they accidentally disrupt the home of Leatherface, the deranged serial killer whose blood-soaked legacy continues to haunt the area’s residents — including Sally Hardesty, the sole survivor of his infamous 1973 massacre who’s hell-bent on seeking revenge.
.
I didn’t know much about this project other that it’s due out in a couple of weeks on the streamer, so I was surprised to learn when watching the trailer it serves more of a sequel rather than being another remake/reboot on the franchise.
.
The screenplay is written by Chris Thomas Devlin, based on a story by Fede Álvarez and Rodo Sayagues, directed by David Blue Garcia, and stars Sarah Yarkin, Elsie Fisher, Mark Burnham, Jacob Latimore, Moe Dunford, Olwen Fouéré, Alice Krige, Jessica Allain, Nell Hudson, Sam Douglas, William Hope, Jolyon Coy and John Larroquette.
.
Texas Chainsaw Massacre will become available on Netflix on the 18th February 2022.
