Deadline is exclusively reporting that Betty Gilpin and Holly Hunter are in negotiations to star in Hurricana, a drama about model, actress and television personality Anna Nicole Smith.

The will chart how in an attempt to save Anna Nicole Smith’s life, her devoted therapist, Khristine, embarks on a thirty-six-hour odyssey in which she unknowingly delivers the fatal blow. Betty Gilpin (whose credits include GLOW and The Hunt) is in talks to play Smith, while Holly Hunter (whose credits include The Big Sick and Mr. Mayor) is in talks to play Khristine.

Producers on the project have described it as exploring the “immense hurricane-like force that was Anna Nicole Smith, and the fateful string of events that led Anna to destroy everything in her path, including herself and those closest to her”.

The film is written by Rachel and Matt Sarnoff, with Francesca Gregorini attached to direct. Rory Koslow (Well Told Entertainment), Cassian Elwes (Elevated), and Gregorini serve as producers on the project, while Jere Hausfater, Rachel Sarnoff, and Matt Sarnoff serve as executive producers.
