Deadline is exclusively reporting that The Daily Wire have bought the U.S rights from Saban Films for the indie superhero film The Hyperions, with an official trailer also released.

The film focuses on Professor Ruckus Mandelbaum, who in the 1960s invents the Titan badge, which gives humans superpowers. He creates an unusual family of superheroes who rise to fame and prestige. But over time the family fractures. By 1979 however, two of the original superheroes go to extraordinary lengths to get their Titan badges back.

Saban Films had acquired the rights for the film during pre-Cannes Screenings virtual market last year.

Jeremy Boreing, Daily Wire co-founder and co-CEO, released a statement saying:

Director Jon McDonald is a true auteur, and The Hyperions is one of the most original films I’ve seen. It’s a movie about pride, family, and reconciliation – values we all share regardless of our politics. It’s a perfect movie for Daily Wire, even though I doubt anyone involved in making it listens to The Ben Shapiro Show. I consider it a privilege to bring this film to our audience.

The film is written and directed by Jon McDonald, who also produced under his American Millimetre’s banner alongside Justin Bell of Justin Bell Productions, and Jon Michael Kondrath of ReKon Productions. Jack Sheehan executive produces alongside ReKon Productions’ Lisha Yakub, Scott Martin and Michael Slifkin.

The Hyperions stars Cary Elwes, Penelope Mitchell, Tanner Buchanan, Elaine Tan and Alphonso McAuley.
