Deadline is reporting that Lily-Rose Depp, Hoyeon and Renate Reinsve are set to star In A24’s film adaptation of Anne Serre’s novel, The Governesses, with Joe Talbot set to direct.

The novel follows three rebellious governesses who upend the household they work in – inspiriting the minds of the boys in their care, igniting the imaginations of the bohemian couple who employ them and abandoning their charges for erotic adventures.

This will be Joe Talbot’s sophomore feature, following on from his critically acclaimed feature debut The Last Black Man In San Francisco. He will be adapting the screenplay alongside poet and novelist Olivia Gatwood. The film is being developed with the support of BBC Film. Ed Guiney and Andrew Lowe of Element Pictures will serve as producers alongside Rob Richert of Longshot Features and Angus Lamont.

The Governesses is being co-financed by A24 and BBC Film, with production set to be taking place in Spain.
