Deadline is exclusively reporting that the Kickstarter-backed horror film Shelby Oaks, which is written and being directed by Chris Stuckmann, has commenced production and will star Camille Sullivan, Brendan Sexton III, Michael Beach, Robin Bartlett, Keith David, Charlie Talbert, Emily Bennett and Sarah Durn.

The film focuses around Mia’s frantic search for her sister Riley, after Riley ominously disappeared in the last tape of a group of paranormal investigators called the Paranormal Paranoids. As Mia’s obsession grows, she begins to suspect that the imaginary demon from Riley’s childhood may have been real.

The project has been inspired by, and accompanied by, a long-lead online marketing campaign around the subject. The funding campaign kicked off in March and went on to smash the record as the most-funded horror film on Kickstarter’s history. The film is being produced by Aaron B. Koontz of Paper Street Pictures, alongside Ashleigh Snead, Cameron Burns, Shawn Talley, Alex Euting and Farrell Rose who are co-producing. Adam F. Goldberg, Paul Holbrook, Sean E. DeMott and Tony Killough serve as executive producers.

Shelby Oaks is currently in production around Cleveland, Ohio until early June. James Norrie of Amp International is handling sales at Cannes Film Market.
