As part of their opening day of Geeked Week, Netflix have released a date announcement trailer for the upcoming series adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s The Sandman.

The official synopsis for the series is as follows:

A rich blend of modern myth and dark fantasy in which contemporary fiction, historical drama and legend are seamlessly interwoven, The Sandman follows the people and places affected by Morpheus, the Dream King, as he mends the cosmic — and human — mistakes he’s made during his vast existence.

Allan Heinberg serves as showrunner on the series and also serves as executive producer alongside Neil Gaiman and David S. Goyer, with the trio also co-writing the project.

The series stars Tom Sturridge, Vivienne Acheampong, Charles Dance, Asim Chaudhry, Sanjeev Bhaskar, Boyd Holbrook, Gwendoline Christie, Kirby Howell-Baptiste, Mason Alexander Park, Donna Preston, Jenna Coleman, Joely Richardson, David Thewlis, Kyo Ra, Stephen Fry, Razane Jammal, Sandra James-Young, Patton Oswalt and Mark Hamill.

The Sandman will become available on Netflix on the 5th August 2022.
