The Devil In The White City: Hulu Gives Series Order For Adaptation Of Erik Larson’s Novel Starring Keanu Reeves

Deadline is exclusively reporting that Keanu Reeves is in negotiations with Hulu to star in the series adaptation of Erik Larson’s novel The Devil In The White City.

Variety is reporting that Hulu have given a series order for the series adaptation of Erik Larson’s novel The Devil In The White City, which will star Keanu Reeves.

The novel tells the true story of two men, an architect and a serial killer, whose fates were forever linked by The Chicago World’s Fair of 1893. The two men are Daniel H. Burnham, a brilliant and fastidious architect racing to make his mark on the world, and Henry H. Holmes, a handsome and cunning doctor who fashioned his own pharmaceutical ’Murder Castle’ on fair grounds – a palace built to seduce, torture and mutilate young women. The story takes the reader on a tour of murder, romance and a mystery in the gilded age.

The series adaptation has been in development at Hulu since the start of the year and now being greenlit, it marks Keanu Reeves’ first major American television role.

The series will also have Keanu Reeves serving as executive producer alongside Martin Scorsese, Rick Yorn, Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Davisson of Appian Way, Stacey Sher, Sam Shaw, Todd Field and Mark Lafferty. Sam Shaw is also adapting the novel for screen and will serve as showrunner, while Todd Field will direct.
