The Continental: John Wick Prequel Series Moves From Starz To Peacock

Deadline is reporting that the John Wick prequel series, The Continental, is moving from the Starz network to the streaming service Peacock.

.

The Continental will explore the origin behind the hotel-for-assassin, which has become the centrepiece of the John Wick universe. The primary focuses will be on a young Winston Scott, who is dragged into the Hell-scape of a 1975 New York City to face a past he thought he’d left behind. Winston charts a deadly course through New York’s mysterious underworld in a harrowing attempt to seize the iconic hotel, which serves as the meeting point for the world’s most dangerous criminals.

.

Sources have told Deadline that the transition has been made as its felt that the three-part event series is more of a natural fit for Peacock, which recently required the rights to the John Wick films.

.

The series is being written by Greg Coolidge and Kirk Ward, who will also serve as showrunners as well as executive producers. Thunder Road Pictures’ Basil Iwanyk and Erica Lee, Chad Stahelski, Derek Kolstad, David Leitch, Shawn Simmons, Paul Wernick, Rhett Reese and Albert Hughes will also serve as executive producers.

.

The series stars Mel GibsonColin WoodellHubert Point-Du JourJessica AllainMishel PradaNhung KateBen Robson, Peter Greene, Ayomide Adegun and Jeremy Bobb.

.

The Continental will premiere on Peacock in 2023.
