The Hollywood Reporter is exclusively reporting that Xochitl Gomez and Mary Elizabeth Winstead have signed up to star in sci-fi thriller Ursa Major.
The film will focus on Charlie and Natalie, mother and daughter fighting for survival on an Earth-like planet, hiding from a group of relentless hunters with the added threat of an imminent and deadly storm approaches. But Natalie, now a teenager, has begun to question her mother’s decisions, her explanation of who they are, how they got here and what they need to do to survive.
Xochitl Gomez (whose credits include The Baby-Sitters Club and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness) will be playing the role of Natalie, while Mary Elizabeth Winstead (whose credits include Birds of Prey and Kate) will be playing the role of Charlie.
The Baker Brothers, Jonathan and Josh, will be directing from an original script written by Patrick Somerville. Somerville will also serve as producer alongside David Eisenberg (Tractor Beam), John Finemore (Lost City), Mason Novick (MXN Entertainment), Allen Fischer and Brian Steinberg (Artists First). James Hope and Jack Brynes of Lost City will executive produce in association with XYZ Films, who will be handling worldwide sales for the film and introducing to buyers at the upcoming Toronto International Film Festival next week.
