Deadline is exclusively reporting that Jodie Turner-Smith is in negotiations with Lucasfilm to star in the Star Wars/Disney+ series The Acolyte.

The Acolyte is described as a mystery-thriller, which will take viewers into a galaxy of shadowy secrets and emerging dark-side powers in the final days of the High Republic era. In the Star Wars universe, an acolyte can refer to individuals with force abilities who learn from a more experienced Sith Lord.

The report states that Turner-Smith’s reps and Disney reps have declined to comment about the potential casting. Her credits include Queen & Slim and Anne Boleyn. If Jodie Turner-Smith signs, she’ll star alongside Amandla Stenberg.

The series, which was announced back in December 2020, hails from Leslye Headland, who serves as writer, executive producer and showrunner. It’s believed that The Acolyte will commence production later in the year.
