The Hollywood Reporter is exclusively reporting that Orlando Bloom is the latest name to join the cast for the film adaptation of the popular video game franchise Gran Turismo at Sony Pictures.
.
Based on a true story, the film is described as the ultimate wish-fulfilment tale of a teenage Gran Turismo player whose gaming skills won him a series of Nissan competitions to become an actual professional race-car driver.
.
Orlando Bloom (whose recent credits include The Outpost and Carnival Row) will be playing the role of a hungry marketing exec who is selling the sport of motor racing … and just may believe in its art, too.
.
The film is being directed by Neill Blomkamp, with the script penned by Jason Hall and Zach Baylin. Also serving as a producer from PlayStation Productions are Asad Qizilbash and Carter Swan, with Doug Belgrad and Dana Brunetti also producing. Game creator Kazunori Yamauchi and Jason Hall are executive producing.
.
Orlando Bloom will join a cast that includes David Harbour and Archie Madekwe. Gran Turismo is scheduled for cinematic release on the 11th August 2023.
