Netflix have announced that the upcoming Witcher prequel series, The Witcher: Blood Origin, will premiere on the 25th December 2022.
The offIcial synopsis for the series is as follows:
Every story has a beginning. Witness the untold history of the Continent with The Witcher: Blood Origin, a new prequel series set in an elven world 1200 years before the events of The Witcher. Blood Origin will tell a story lost to time – exploring the creation of the first prototype Witcher, and the events that lead to the pivotal “Conjunction of the Spheres,” when the worlds of monsters, men, and elves merged to become one.
Declan de Barra serves as executive producer and showrunner of the prequel series, with the creator of The Witcher mothership series, Lauren Schmidt Hissrich, serving as executive producer. Andrzej Sapkowski, author of The Witcher novel series that the show is based on, serves as creative consultant. Jason Brown and Sean Daniel from Hivemind, and Tomek Baginski and Jarek Sawko from Platige Films also serve as executive producers.
The Witcher: Blood Origin stars Sophia Brown, Laurence O’Fuarain, Michelle Yeoh, Lenny Henry, Mirren Mack, Nathaniel Curtis, Dylan Moran, Jacob Collins-Levy, Lizzie Annis, Huw Novelli, Francesca Mills, Amy Murray, Zach Wyatt and Aidan O’Callaghan.
