Deadline is exclusively reporting that Holt McCallany is the latest name to join the cast of the A24 wrestling drama The Iron Claw.

Based on the true story of the Von Erich’s, the film will follow the rise and fall of the Von Erich family, a dynasty of wrestlers who made a huge impact on the sport from the 1960’s to the present day.

Holt McCallany (whose credits include Mindhunter and Nightmare Alley) will be playing the role of Fritz Von Erich, the patriarch of the family.

The film is being written and directed by Sean Durkin, with the film co-financed by A24 and Access Industries. Tessa Ross, Derrin Schlesinger and Harrison Huffman serve as producers on the project. The film was developed by House Productions with the support of Access Entertainment and BBC Films.

Holt McCallany will join a cast that includes Zac Efron, Harris Dickinson and Jeremy Allen White.
