M3GAN 2.0: Universal Set Sequel For 2025 Release

Universal Pictures have released the latest trailer for the upcoming horror film M3GAN..

Media outlets are reporting that Universal have not only greenlit a sequel for M3GAN last week, but now they have set M3GAN 2.0 for cinematic release on the 27th January 2025.

The official synopsis for the original film is as follows:

M3GAN is a marvel of artificial intelligence, a life-like doll programmed to be a child’s greatest companion and a parent’s greatest ally. Designed by brilliant toy-company roboticist Gemma, M3GAN can listen and watch and learn as she becomes friend and teacher, playmate and protector, for the child she is bonded to.

When Gemma suddenly becomes the caretaker of her orphaned 8-year-old niece, Cady, Gemma’s unsure and unprepared to be a parent. Under intense pressure at work, Gemma decides to pair her M3GAN prototype with Cady in an attempt to resolve both problems—a decision that will have unimaginable consequences.

A sequel isn’t really that much of a surprise, as the film has currently engrossed over $92m at the worldwide box office, and made on a $12m budget.

The report states that Akela Cooper will be returning to write the script, whilst Allison Williams and Violet McGraw will be reprising the roles of Gemma and Cady. Jason Blum, James Wan, and Allison Williams will serve as producers. Atomic Monster’s Michael Clear and Judson Scott, Blumhouse’s Ryan Turk, Divide/Conquer’s Adam Hendricks and Greg Gilreath, and Mark Katchur will serve as executive producers.
