Michael: Michael Jackson’s Nephew Jaafar Jackson Cast As King Of Pop For Biopic At Lionsgate

Deadline is exclusively reporting that Jaafar Jackson, nephew of Michael Jackson, will play the late icon in the upcoming biopic Michael at Lionsgate, with director Antoine Fuqua confirming the casting on Instagram.

Michael is set to be an in-depth portrayal of a complicated man who become the King of Pop. It will bring to life Jackson’s most iconic performances as it gives an informed insight into the entertainer’s artistic process and personal life.

Jaafar is the son of Jermaine Jackson, and is also a singer and songwriter in his own right. Lionsgate acquired worldwide rights to make a Michael Jackson biopic early last year, with producer Graham King and writer John Logan attached to the project.

GK Films will be producing the project alongside the co-executors of Jackson’s estate, John Branca and John McClain. While the film has the rights to Jackson’s musical catalog, some wondered how in-depth the biopic will go into his life and career.
