Wildcard Distribution have released the official trailer for the upcoming Irish drama film Lakelands.

The official synopsis for the film is as follows:

The film follows Cian, a young Gaelic footballer struggling to come to terms with a career-ending injury after an attack on a night out. He undertakes a search for his own identity in a small town where Gaelic football is a religion, and identity is defined by what you can do on the pitch.

The film, which is directed by Robert Higgins and Patrick McGivney, has won the Best Irish Film award at the Galway Film Fleadh and Best Film award at the Kerry International Film Festival, and will have its UK premiere this Saturday 4th March at the Glasgow Film Festival. The film stars Éanna Hardwicke, Danielle Galligan, Lorcan Cranitch, Gary Lydon, Dafhyd Flynn, Dara Devaney, Oisin Robbins and Lesley Conroy.

Lakelands is scheduled for cinematic release in the UK and Ireland on the 5th May 2023.
