Variety is exclusively reporting that a film adaptation of the popular horror multiplayer video game, Dead By Daylight, is in development from Atomic Monster and Blumhouse.

The video game, launched in 2016, has players stepping into The Fog, a terrifying mist where four players take on the roles of the Survivors, and one player is the Killer, and a deadly game of cat and mouse ensues.

Stephen Mulrooney, Executive Vice President at Behaviour Interactive, released a statement saying:

Dead By Daylight has reached over 50 million players worldwide since its launch. Blumhouse, Atomic Monster and Behaviour Interactive are now beginning their search for a director and a screenwriter for the project. James Wan, Jason Blum and Stephen Mulrooney will serve as producers on the film, whilst Remi Racine (Behaviour Interactive), Michael Clear and Judson Scott (Atomic Monster), Ryan Turek (Blumhouse), and Russell Binder (Striker Entertainment) will serve as executive producers.
