The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Jon Bernthal has joined the cast for the upcoming Marvel series Daredevil: Born Again, reprising the role of Frank Castle aka The Punisher.

Not much is known about the upcoming series in terms of plot, just that its being written and executive produced by Matt Corman and Chris Ord, it will consist of eighteen episodes for the season, and will premiere in 2024. The series is currently scheduled to commence shooting this month in New York.

Jon Bernthal originally played the character during the Marvel/Netflix era, debuting on the second season of Daredevil, before getting his own spinoff series The Punisher, which ran for two seasons. In the same report from THR, it states that two original, pivotal supporting characters in the original Daredevil series are not on the roll call for this new series, and they are Foggy Nelson and Karen Page, portrayed by Elden Henson and Deborah Ann Woll respectively. It does say however that it’s unclear whether it’s because the character are excised from the story, or if the roles are being recast.

Jon Bernthal will join a cast that includes Charlie Cox, Vincent D’Onofrio, Michael Gandolfini, Margarita Levieva, Sandrine Holt, and Nikki M. James.
