Deadline is reporting that Daisy Edgar-Jones is in negotiations with Universal Pictures and Amblin Entertainment to star in Twisters, a reboot of the 1996 blockbuster Twister.
.
Whilst plot details are thin at this moment for the reboot version, the original film focused on Jo and Bill Harding, a pair of storm chasers who are a couple on the brink of divorce. They team up to chase tornadoes in order to deliver their advance weather alert system that has to be placed in the path of the Twister. The original film made $495.7m worldwide and starred Helen Hunt, Bill Paxton, Jami Gertz, Cary Elwes, Alan Ruck, Zach Grenier and Philip Seymour Hoffman.
.
The studio is describing Twisters as a ‘new chapter’, which will not serve as a sequel, nor is it expected to bring back characters from the original film. It’s also not being reported as to who Daisy Edgar-Jones could potentially be playing in the film. Her recent credits include Fresh and Where The Crawdads Sing.
.
A reboot has been in development since early summer 2020, with Joseph Kosinski initially in talks to direct. Currently, director Lee Isaac Chung will helm the film, with the script written by Mark L. Smith.
