The Hollywood Reporter is exclusively reporting that Netflix have given a straight-to-series order for the TV adaptation of Man On Fire.
The eight-episode action thriller series will follow John Creasy, a broken ex-mercenary on a mission to avenge the death of his only friend, while protecting his fallen comrade’s daughter from the forces that destroyed her family.
The report states that the series will be based on the first two novels in the book series about John Creasy by A. J. Quinnell, specifically Man On Fire and The Perfect Kill. Man On Fire is a familiar property to most, having been adapted twice for the big screen in 1987 and in 2004. John Creasy has been portrayed by Scott Glenn and Denzel Washington.
Kyle Killen has been brought on board to serve as writer, executive producer, and showrunner on the series. Killen will executive produce alongside Peter Chernin, Jenno Topping, Bill McGoldrick and Juan Alfonso. Arnon Milchan, Yariv Milchan and Michael Schaefer of New Regency will also serve as executive producers.
