Deadline is exclusively reporting that Starz and Channel 4 have greenlt the psychological thriller series The Couple Next Door, which will star Eleanor Tomlinson, Sam Heughan, Alfred Enoch and Jessica De Gouw.

The series follows Evie and Pete who move into an upscale neighbourhood and find themselves in a world of curtain twitching and status anxiety. They find friendship in the shape of the couple next door, alpha traffic cop Danny and his wife, glamourous yoga instructor Becka, but after Danny and Evie share a passionate night together there is trouble ahead.

Eleanor Thomlinson (whose credits include Poldark and The Outlaws) will be playing the role of Evie, Sam Heughan (whose credits include Outlander and Bloodshot) will be playing the role of Danny, Alfred Enoch (whose credits include How To Get Away With Murder and Tigers) will be playing the role of Pete, and Jessica De Gouw (whose credits include Arrow and Underground) will be playing the role of Becka.

The six-part series, which is based on Dutch series New Neighbours, is the first co-production from U.S streamer Starz and UK network Channel 4, who describe the series as “a psychological drama, exploring the stultifying claustrophobia of suburbia and the fallout of chasing your darkest desires”. The series was commissioned by Channel 4’s Caroline Hollick and Rebecca Holdsworth. The series hails from Eagle Eye Drama and will be distributed by Beta Film.
