Based on two different accounts of the same true story, the film is being described as an “a darkly comic tale of murder and survival, set around a group of electic characters who abandon civilization for the Galapagos. They are all searching for the answer to that ever-pressing question that plagues us all: what is the meaning of life”,

The report just comes a day after media outlets were reporting about the project, with Ana de Armas, Jude Law and Daniel Brühl being attached to star and Alicia Vikander in talks to join.

The project hails from Imagine Entertainment, CAA Media Finance and Stuart Ford’s AGC Studios, with the latter newly attached to finance the project and handle sales at the upcoming Cannes Film Market. Imagine’s Brian Grazer and Karen Lunder will serve as producers on the project. The script for the film is penned by Noah Pink.

Shooting on Origin of Species is currently being aimed to begin in the fourth quarter of this year in Queensland, Australia.
