Good Will Hunting TV Series – How Do You Like Them Apples?

Good Will Hunting - Will it make for a good TV series?

“I don’t like the sound of them apples, Will. What are we going to do?”

Take a deep breath and just take this into consideration – Good Will Hunting is 16 years old. The film that launched the careers of both Ben Affleck and Matt Damon, earning them an Academy Award for Best Screenplay and also awarding Robin Williams the Best Supporting Actor nod has been purchased by The Weinstein Company having struck a distribution deal with Miramax on Monday, which sees the Weinsteins making sequels to Shakespeare in Love (why, I don’t know) and Rounders 2 (least this I can get behind). Not only that but they are aiming to takeover the TV realm and bring forth, you guessed it, Good Will Hunting to the small screen.

Saying this as a huge fan of the film when I was growing up, I really don’t want this, at all. I’m one of the ones that doesn’t want to go back to have the questions answered about what happened to them all after the films end. Such questions like did Will and Skylar get together? What became of Chuckie? What about Will’s job offer? I preferred it was left open to your own interpretation.

We don’t know much about what variation of Good Will Hunting we will be getting, whether it be just remaking the plot from scratch or following up from the events from 16 years ago but the Weinsteins are keen on it happening, but it will need some involvement from Affleck or Damon or both, in order for it to work.

A sequel to the film has been in the rumor mill for quite some time and now with this Weinstein Company and Miramax deal, it looks set to be still buzzing around for the next year. I would rather it was just left alone.

Have a scene from the sequel…of sorts.
