Deadline is exclusively reporting that Amazon have acquired the rights for the post-World War II series Backwards In Heels, which is being developed by Jennifer Lopez’s Nuyorican Productions and Skydance TV.

.

The series will tell the story about the glamorous women living at the Barbizon Hotel in post-WWII New York City. Built in 1927 and located at 140 East 63rd St. on the Manhattan’s Upper East Side, the hotel served as a female-only residential hotel for several decades, where young women came to New York City for professional opportunities. The hotel had strict dress and conduct codes, such as men not being allowed above the ground floor, and men weren’t allowed to be guests until 1981. In the course of the hotels history it had guests such as Lauren Bacall, Betty Buckley, Joan Crawford, Rita Hayworth and Grace Kelly, to name but a few.

The series is being written and directed by Richard LaGravenese. Jennifer Lopez will be producing with Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas and Benny Medina under their Nuyorican Productions banner, alongside Julie Goldstein and Skydance TV’s David Ellison, Dana Goldberg and Bill Bost.
