The Hollywood Reporter is exclusively reporting that Gary Dauberman and James Wan’s Atomic Monster will be teaming up once again, this time for the live-action series adaptation of the 90s cartoon Gargoyles for Disney+.

The original series, made by Walt Disney Television Animation, ran for three seasons from 1994 to 1997. The premise involved a clan of Gargoyles, led by Goliath, that lived in a castle in Scotland. Struck with a spell that kept them frozen in stone until the castle ‘rises above the clouds’, they awaken again a thousand years later in modern-day New York, taking on the mantle of protecting the city.

The report states that Gary Dauberman will write, executive produce, and showrun the series with Atomic Monster. Dauberman and James Wan have collaborated on a few occasions, working on the Annabelle films, The Nun and also Swamp Thing.

I for one look forward to seeing how this project will flourish where others have tried and failed previously, but the Gargoyles property is rich with lore and characters, it will be interesting to see how it develops.
