Media outlets are reporting that drama series Hijack has been renewed for a second season at Apple TV+.

The premise of the series, which came out last year on the streaming service, is as follows:

Told in real time, “Hijack” is a tense thriller that follows the journey of a hijacked plane as it makes its way to London over a seven-hour flight, and authorities on the ground scramble for answers.

The first season was led by Idris Elba and also starred Archie Panjabi, Ben Miles, Max Beesley, Christine Adams, Eve Myles, Aimée Kelly, Mohamed Elsandel, Jasper Britton, James Burrows, Harry Michell and Neil Maskell.

Jay Hunt, Creative Director of Europe at Apple TV+, released a statement saying:

Global audiences were on tenterhooks watching Idris’s riveting performance in Hijack, and we’re thrilled to be working again with 60Forty and Idiotlamp on an equally compelling Season 2.

Idris Elba, who also serves as an executive producer on the series, released a statement adding:

The second season hails from George Kay and Jim Field Smith, and be also be executive produced by Jamie Laurenson, Hakan Kousetta, and Tom Nash of 60Forty Films, as well as Kay and Field Smith of Idiotlamp Productions.
