Noir: Amazon And MGM+ Give Order For Live-Action Spider-Man Noir Series, Nicolas Cage To Star

Variety is reporting that Amazon Prime Video and MGM+ have given a series order to Noir, a live-action Spider-Man Noir series which will star Nicolas Cage.

It was reported earlier in the year that a live-action series of Spider-Man Noir was in development, and Amazon announced it ahead of their upfront presentation in New York earlier today.

Vernon Sanders, Head of Television for Amazon MGM Studios, released a statement saying:

Expanding the Marvel universe with ‘Noir’ is a uniquely special opportunity and we are honoured to bring this series to our global Prime Video customers. The extremely talented Nicolas Cage is an ideal choice for our new superhero and the accomplished producing team with Phil Lord, Christopher Miler, Amy Pascal, and the incredible team at Sony is dedicated to expanding this franchise in the most authentic way.

The logline for Noir is as follows:

Noir tells the story of an aging down on his luck private investigator in 1930s New York, who is forced to grapple with his past life as the city’s one and only superhero.

Nicolas Cage is no stranger to the character having voiced him in the animated film Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse. This will be Spider-Man Noir’s first time being portrayed in live-action. Oren Uziel and Steve Lightfoot will serve as co-showrunners and executive producers on the series. Also executive producing are Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, Amy Pascal and Harry Bradbeer.

Katherine Pope, President of Sony Pictures Television Studios, released a statement saying:

We are absolutely thrilled to have Nicolas Cage starring in this series! No one else could bring such pathos, pain, and heart to this singular character. Along with our brilliant producers and partners at Amazon MGM Studios and Prime Video, we couldn’t ask for a better team to explore this reimagining of such an iconic character in Sony’s Universe of Marvel Characters.

Noir marks the second Sony-Marvel project to be given a series order at Amazon, with Silk: Spider Society previously greenlit recently.
