Return To Silent Hill: First-Look Image Released Online

Variety has exclusively revealed the first-look photo of the upcoming film Return to Silent Hill, the latest adaptation based on the horror video game franchise.

Return to Silent Hill follows James, a man broken after his relationship with the love of his life, Mary, ends. As reported by variety, the official synopsis states that the action kicks off when:

A mysterious letter from Mary calls James back to Silent Hill, he find a once-recognisable town transformed by an unknown evil. While James desperately searches for Mary, he encounters terrifying creatures and begins to unravel the mystery of what happened to the town. But as he descends deeper into the darkness the secrets he uncovers lead to a horrifying truth, and James finds himself struggling to hold on long enough to save his one true love.

The film will be based on Silent Hill 2, the second and most popular game in the video game series from Konami. The game was originally released in 2001. Christophe Gans, who directed the 2006 original film adaptation of Silent Hill, has returned to direct this instalment, and also co-wrote the script alongside Sandra Vo-Anh and William Josef Schneider. The film is being produced by Victor Hadida (Davis Films), Molly Hassell (Hassell Free Productions) and David Wulf.

Return to Silent Hill is the third film based on the video game series, with the 2006 film starring Radha Mitchell, Sean Bean and Laura Holden, earning more than $100m worldwide at the box office. The sequel, 2012’s Silent Hill: Revelation, starred Adelaide Clemens, Kit Harington and Carrie-Anne Moss, earned more than $55m worldwide at the box office.

Return to Silent Hill, which is previewing at the Cannes Film Festival with The Veterans handling international sales and CAA Media Financing handling domestic sales, stars Jeremy Irvine, Hannah Emily Anderson, Evie Templeton, Howard Saddler, Robert Strange, Eve Macklin, Pearse Egan, Alana Maria and Emily Carding.
