Man On Fire: Yahya Abdul-Mateen II To Executive Produce And Star In Series Adaptation Of A.J. Quinnell’s Novel Series At Netflix

Deadline is exclusively reporting that Yahya Abdul-Mateen II has signed on to executive produce and star in Man On Fire, a series based on A.J. Quinnell’s novel series, with Steven Caple Jr. on board to direct the first two episodes as well as executive produce.

In the series, Man On Fire will have us following John Creasy, a once high-functioning and skilled Special Forces mercenary known for surviving even the most desolate of situations. Creasy is now plagued with intense PTSD. Determined to overcome his personal demons, he sets out on a path to redemption. But before he can adjust to his new life, he finds himself back in the fire, fighting harder than ever.

The eight-episode series, which was ordered by Netflix back in March 2023, is based on Quinnell’s Man On Fire and The Perfect Kill, the first two books in the five-book series. Of course, people will remember that Man On Fire has been adapted as films twice before, with the latter particularly well known upon its 2004 release starring Denzel Washington as John Creasy, while the 1987 version featured Scott Glenn as Christian Creasy.

Kyle Killen serves as writer, executive producer, and showrunner of the series. Also serving as executive producers are Arnon Milchan, Yariv Milchan and Natalie Lehmann of New Regency Productions, Peter Chernin, Jenny Topping, and Tracey Cook of Chernin Entertainment, Scott Pennington of Chapter Eleven, Ed McDonnell, Michael Polaire and Stacey Perskie.
