Last week I posted about a Supergirl series being on the cards, it was just a question of the brains behind it pitching it to several studios to see who wanted to pick it up. Well turns out it didn’t take long as it’s been announced that the CBS Network are adapting the high-profile DC Comics character.
Brief synopsis of Supergirl:
The hourlong drama, centers on Kara Zor-El, Superman’s cousin, who was born on the planet Krypton and escaped amid its destruction years ago. Since arriving on Earth, she has been hiding the powers she shares with her famous cousin. But now at age 24, she decides to embrace her superhuman abilities and be the hero she was always meant to be.
This pickup also means that five major networks in the US all have a comic/superhero-themed television show, with DC owning four of the networks (Arrow (CW), The Flash (CW), Constantine (NBC) and Gotham (FOX)), signalling their intend to dominate the small screen domain. Arrow and The Flash Co-Creator and Executive Producer Greg Berlanti and Executive Producer Ali Alder on behind the Supergirl series. Previous actresses that portrayed the character (live action) include Faye Dunaway (1984 Supergirl film) and Laura Vandervoort (Smallville)
. Now it’ll probably take a few months for the lead role to be cast, but who would you like to see play Kara?
