Disney and Lucasfilm have released the official trailer for Star Wars spinoff Solo: A Star Wars Story.

The synopsis for the film is as follows:

Board the Millennium Falcon and journey to a galaxy far, far away in ‘Solo: A Star Wars Story,’ an adventure with the most beloved scoundrel in the galaxy. Through a series of daring escapades deep within a dark and dangerous criminal underworld, Han Solo meets his mighty future copilot Chewbacca and encounters the notorious gambler Lando Calrissian, in a journey that will set the course of one of the Star Wars saga’s most unlikely heroes.

Visually the film looks like it’ll be a feast for the eyes. Admittedly, I’m not sold on Ehrenreich playing a young Han Solo but that’s no fault of his own as the role is so well known and stepping into a role known for decades as Harrison Ford’s is difficult for any actor to live up to. There’s nothing in terms of a story that’s getting me excited either as of all characters that would be getting a shot of their own spinoff film, I would’ve ranked Han Solo lower than a number of characters.

Solo: A Star Wars Story stars Alden Ehrenreich, Donald Glover, Emilia Clarke, Woody Harrelson, Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Thandie Newton.

The film is scheduled for cinematic release on the 25th May 2018.
