Variety is reporting that Isaiah Mustafa is the latest name to join the cast of New Line’s It sequel It: Chapter Two.
The synopsis for It (the first chapter) is as follows:
Seven young outcasts in Derry, Maine, are about to face their worst nightmare – an ancient, shape-shifting evil that emerges from the sewer every 27 years to prey on the town’s children. Banding together over the course of one horrifying summer, the friends must overcome their own personal fears to battle the murderous, bloodthirsty clown known as Pennywise.
Released last year, It became the highest grossing horror film of all time, making over $700m worldwide on a $35m budget. While Chapter One of It focused on the group of children having to take on Pennywise, Chapter Two will follow the second half of Stephen King’s novel where the characters return to their hometown as adults to take on Pennywise once again.
Isaiah Mustafa (whose credits include Baby Daddy and Shadowhunters: The Mortal Instruments) will be playing the role of Mike Hanlon, who was originally played by Chosen Jacobs in the first chapter.
Andy Muschietti is back to helm the sequel, with Gary Dauberman penning the script that is still being worked on. The rest of the cast so far includes Bill Skarsgard, Jessica Chastain, James McAvoy, Bill Hader, James Ransone, Andy Bean and Jay Ryan.
It: Chapter Two is scheduled for cinematic release on the 6th September 2019.
