Debris: NBC Gives Series Order For Sci-Fi Drama

Media outlets are reporting that NBC have given a series order for sci-fi drama Debris starring Jonathan Tucker and Riann Steele.

The series is set to focus on two agents, from two different continents and two different mindsets, who must work together to investigate when wreckage from a destroyed alien spacecraft has mysterious effects on humankind.

Jonathan Tucker (whose credits include Kingdom and Justified) is playing the role of Bryan Beneventi, a headstrong, smart CIA operative, while Riann Steele (whose credits include Ant-Man and the Wasp and The Magicians) is playing the role of Finola Jones, a classic rule following MI6 agent who is partnered with Beneventi.

The pilot for Debris was believed to be the 2020 broadcast drama pilot with the most footage shot in production before the COVID-19 pandemic shut down production in mid-March. However, the producers were able to edit the material, complementing the footage with additional visuals (similar in vein to how The Blacklist completed an unfinished episode this year to wrap up season seven) and the finished product received a positive reaction at NBC, leading to the series order pickup.

The series is by J.H Wyman and executive producer Jason Hoffs.
