The Hollywood Reporter is exclusively reporting that Paul Mescal is the latest name to join the cast of Maggie Gyllenhaal’s upcoming directorial debut The Lost Daughter.
The Lost Daughter focuses on an elegant college professor on a seaside summer vacation who becomes consumed by Nina and her young daughter as she watches them on the beach, only to be overwhelmed by fearful memories of early motherhood. Forced to consider the unconventional choices she made as a young mother and the consequences they had for her family, she begins to unravel.
The report doesn’t state what role Mescal will be playing, though this will be his feature film debut after bursting onto the scene this year in the critically acclaimed television series Normal People.
Maggie Gyllenhaal is producing the project alongside Charlie Dorfman, Talia Kleinhendler and Osnat Handelsman-Keren.
Paul Mescal will join a cast that includes Olivia Colman, Dakota Johnson, Jessie Buckley and Peter Sarsgaard.
