Deadline is reporting that Michelle Rodriguez and Justice Smith are set to star alongside Chris Pine in the new film adaptation of the popular role-playing game Dungeons and Dragons.
Currently plot details for the latest film adaptation is being kept under wraps.
A film version of Dungeons & Dragons has been on the cards for a number of years, but due to a rights dispute that led to a court battle lasting several years, studios have tried and failed to get it off the ground running, though a film adaptation did come out from New Line in 2000 starring Jeremy Irons, earning $33.8m worldwide with its $45m budget.
Hasbro/eOne and Paramount are co-producing and co-financing the film, with eOne distributing the film in the UK and Canada while Paramount will distribute the rest of the world. Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley are attached to direct the project as well as write the script based on a draft penned by Michael Gilio. Jeremy Latcham will serve as producer on the project.
The studio are aiming to begin production on the project in late spring in Belfast.
