TVLine is reporting that ABC have given a pilot commitment production for a new iteration of the 1980s family drama The Wonder Years, focusing on a black middle-class family inspired by writer Saladin K. Patterson’s childhood experiences, who will executive produce alongside Lee Daniels and original The Wonder Years star Fred Savage, who will also direct the pilot.
