Ms. Marvel: Laurel Marsden Joins Cast For Marvel Series At Disney+

The Hollywood Reporter is exclusively reporting that Lauren Marsden is the latest name to join the cast of Marvel Studios/Disney+ series Ms. Marvel.

The series focuses on Kamala Khan, a Pakistani-American teenager based in New Jersey. In the comics, Khan/Ms. Marvel first appeared in 2014, becoming Marvel’s first Muslim superhero to lead her own comic.

Lauren Marsden (whose credits include Quibi’s Survive and Contempt) will be playing the role of Zoe Zimmer, a popular girl at Coles Academic High that happens to be Kamala’s frenemy, who also happens to be one of the first people that Ms. Marvel saves. Zimmer also dates the school’s ‘it’ athlete Josh Richardson. The character of Zoe Zimmer was first introduced in the comics in 2014’s Ms. Marvel No.3 by scribe G. Willow Wilson and artist Adrian Alphona.

The series, which is currently filming Atlanta, is being written by Bisha K. Ali, who also serves as showrunner, with Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy and Meera Menon attached to direct episodes on the series.

Lauren Marsden joins a cast that includes Iman Vellani, Aramis Knight, Saagar Shaikh, Rish Shah, Matt Lintz, Zenobia Shroff, Mohan Kapur, Yasmeen Fletcher, Laith Naki, Azher Usman, Travina Springer and Nimra Bucha.

Ms. Marvel will premiere on Disney+ in late 2021.
